The Good Life Part 1
Living in Prescott = Living the Good Life! Beautiful sunrises, sunsets and double rainbows abound. People are always inquiring as to what exactly I enjoy about the lifestyle here so I have decided to just list one thing at a time. Today I want to talk about Acker, our annual Music Festival event that normally takes place the first Friday evening in December.
The shops all remain open late on and near the square as musicians and entertainers of all kinds play music. Many of shops provide not only music but also hot chocolate, freshly baked cookies and apple cider. There is normally a chill in the air and all the Christmas lights are a glow, giving the event true Holiday warmth of spirit.
As you wander from shop to shop you will encounter anything from bluegrass, to belly dancing! Barbershop quartets, steel drum bands, rock n roll and of course the classics. And please even though this is FREE, drop a couple of dollars into the collection to keep this alive and thriving!
Along with being a fun, family friendly tradition, Acker Night combines participating downtown businesses with the support of hardworking musicians who donate their time and talents. Their mutual goal is to keep music alive and thriving for the youth of Prescott.
Funds raised on Acker Night provide scholarships for music lessons, instruments and local youth performing arts programs..
The J.S. Acker Music Park Association is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization.
Volunteers for the events are always welcome, including students.
I will be there if you are new to town and need to join in with others that will be wandering the streets, give me a shout! Vicki 928-710-4532
