Prescott Circle Trail
The smell of fresh pine needles resting on a dirt path, lakes nestled between boulders big enough to resemble mountains, and the sight of a picturesque sunset with pops of bright orange, deep purple, and soft pink against a valley of sweeping grass and rolling hills.
Where can you find all the wonders of our great outdoors? Look no further than the
Prescott Circle Trail.
Just as the title of this post states, the Prescott Circle Trail(PCT) is a compilation of trails that circle the town of Prescott. The trails consist of non-motorized pathways that wind you through some of the most beautiful scenery Prescott has to offer. It spans over 54 miles with an elevation gain between 5140' - 6690'. You have the option to hike or bike all connecting trails, and you are now able to make it a thru hike/bike with the added benefit of overnight camping. My family and I took full advantage of our mountain bikes and recently purchased tent to complete this trek in 2 days. We camped near Wolverton Mountain and feasted on BBQ chicken my husband prepared over a campfire.
This is a difficult trail if you plan on completing it within a weekend (but not impossible as my husband and I did it with our 18-month-old daughter in tow). I highly recommend you check it out over the course of 2-3 weekends by splitting it up into distances you feel comfortable doing in a day. It's the perfect trail for a casual walk with the dogs or kids, and it's the perfect trail for endurance junkies that want the rush of a good climb and killer descents.
